Lack of direction

I’m all for experimentation, but this has no direction or melody. All of their previous albums have had some sort of narrative to them, but not this. I have no clue what Alex is talking about at any point of this album. The melodies are nonexistent. I’m baffled.
Big Letdown

A huge disappointment after the previous album. No song fully hits it’s stride or climaxes. Each song feels like it is stuck in first gear.
There are a few good rhythms and riffs but they are few and not strong enough to carry the songs.
Album of the Year

Alex Turner creates a vast and mesmerizing virtual dream in this space-themed, phantasmic rock-opera of a concept album. To all the idiots with no imagination and a raging hard-on for “those pop guitar licks” and who share the sentiment of “why my song no catchy no more?”, go appreciate imagine dragons you useless buffoons.
This album is GOLD-PLATED SPACE SEX.
Did not live up to the hype

As a long time arctic monkeys fan I have become disappointed in the complete 180 turn to their style of music. They have lost their favorite worst nightmare touch and moved onto space music!

I think the change in sound is good! I’m not dissing on their previous work at all, for it was all good! I believe that as an artist you should be able to branch out and try different things.

i liked there last album thought it was there best, dont like this direction there taking now. however genius idea to not release any singles cause after a couple listens starts to fade alittle but that sale crap worked
I understand why ppl hate it

It grows on you, because I used to hate this album a lot. The bad songs are when he has that vocal effect on the verses that make me sound like the snapchat alien filter (there’s only two I think). It’s a solid album, very laid back and slow motioned. I like it. I wish there was a bit more lighter vocals, instead of the monotonous sound, I mean it works, but it gets difficult to grab the listener’s attention if there isn’t a drastic change of instruments, melody, or key. Hopefully the next album has more diversity.
I absolutely love this record I don’t understand the hate
