I want to start out by saying besides nastradamus, this was Nas’s weakest album to date. Coming off one of his best efforts in the “Life is Good” album and after a 6 year hiatus, we all expected more. What we got was a Kanye west produced album where the production is obviously not synced well with Nas’s lyrics. The album has only 7 tracks and yet you feel like you can’t even get past the second one without giving up on the album. Even with the albums best track in my opinion (Everything) you still get an unnecessary 5 minuets of Kanye humming and The dream feeling out of place in the track. If I were to ranked each song individually out of 10 it would be:
1. Not for radio- 4/10- Weak sequel to Hate me now
2.Cops shot the kid- 6/10- Decent message but a repetitive sample to Slick Rick’s Children story doesn’t work
3. White Label-4/10- Listened to it maybe twice and I’ll probably never listen to it again
4. Bonjour- 3/10- Weakest track
5. Everything-7.5/10- Great beat and lyrics by nas but too much Kanye
6. Adam and Eve- 6/10- Better use of the dream in the hook but nas lyrics are just ok
7. Simple Things- 5/10
45.5-70: 65 percent- Just passed if it was a school grade.
2.5 stars really doe
Feel like this had more potential without Kanye. Don’t feel their styles mash too well.
🔥🔥🔥🔥Dope AS SHEEEEEIIITT🔥🔥🔥🔥
Still to thiiiiiiiis dayyyyy people can’t understand or see how powerful this brother’s words and messages are. Crown this man while he’s still here!!!!!💯💯💯
The Richard Pryor/Slick Rick Sampling “Cops” is the only serviceable track on this album. “Cops shot the kid” is an infectious summer banger sprinkled with classic east coast sound. All the other tracks on this project fall short or are simply trash. It’s a disappointment considering Nas’s multi year hiatus and the involvement of Atlanta GA’s “The Dream... and of course Kanye West. After the elegant and underrated Life Is Good album and Nas’ string of magnificent cameos on Rick Ross’s and other’s albums I was foolish enough to believe that Nas was no longer capable of putting out a wack album. That belief was as misplaced as the run-on sentence Inscribed prior... This Album is gotta be something out of the twilight zone...It definitely isn’t the classic I was expecting. Especially since it’s only 7 tracks...I was expecting 7 tracks of Nasir Jones MC/Song Crafting Artisanship at its finest. Maybe Nas is tired of the powers that be under-appraising his talents so he is content to sit back, enjoy his Moscow mules and pull his punches with his projects. Whatever the case may be, just know that this project has no hustle, mad relaxin, but unfortunately, it falls short of striving as well.

NASIR is a good album. Different sound from Nas. Kanye production on this wasn’t as inspired like on Daytona.
BUY “MORRIS HEIGHTS” by ThomasTekno
